Yep, it’s Friday. You know what to do.
***My soapbox yesterday was brought about in part by the asshat at Hannah’s school and in part because I read this post over at a blog I was directed to called After Silence. It got me thinking about the fact that even though we are supposedly making great strides toward being free of such behavior, under the surface lies a very clear good old boy mentality that hasn’t changed a whole lot in the last 50 years. She said it a lot better than I did, though, so if you want to, head on over there and check it out.
***Owen crept into our room last night-which he often does-but this time he brought in with him all of his blankets and a book. Now, I love me some good reading, and have several books that I love so much I would like to sleep with them, so that makes me glad. However, sharp edges at 2:30 a.m. are not so fun, nor is a restless three year old hugging the source of said sharp edges. I finally ended up shuffling him off to his room while trying to convince him that books aren’t fun to sleep with; I don’t think he believed me, though, because I fell asleep on his bed and woke up to, you guessed it, a sharp edge in my face.
***That little thingy in Google Reader that allows people to share items? Is the devil. I click on one shared item, and then another, and pretty damn quick I have added three new blogs to my reader, because the writing kicks my ass. And then I wake up in the morning and I have 47 unread items and I feel slightly panicked and sometimes just close my eyes and delete delete delete…but then I feel like maybe I missed the best! post! ever! and have to go back in and read what I deleted. If you KNOW I read you but I haven’t commented, it is either because I have nothing useful to say or I am on overload. Yet I do it every single day; how sick am I?
***Our local grocery store (well, local meaning it is here, but it is a chain store but NOT the Big W) is having this really great sale on cheese. As in, blocks and bags for 99 cents each. 99 cents, folks. We will be eating cheese for weeks to come. Since a couple of the kids have problems down under from eating too much cheese, I also stocked up on some plum. It’s a win-win situation.
***I am wearing Sam’s socks today, and they fit. He is 10, mind you. I don’t think it is that his feet are so big, mine are just small. I noticed when I got to work, though, that they don’t match. They are both dingy gray white, but one has the gray toe and the other doesn’t. Think anyone else will notice?
***I am going to catch a fish this weekend even if it means I have to go out every morning and evening the entire three-day-weekend. I am a woman with a mission.
I can never think of a really good way to end these Friday Fragment posts. All of the randomness is just, well, so random that it is difficult for me to close. So begone, and check out the other Friday Fragmenters. And thanks to Mrs.4444 for this brainstorm!
99 cent cheese? Hmmmm…..

@Matt, And just what are you implying? : )

@kori, All I’m sayin’ is I’m skeptical. Sort of like 99 cent ground beef or 99 cent shrimp.

@Matt, It’s actually real cheese. Kroger cheese, and not even past the expiration date! I totally had to check for green spots, but I do that anyway.

I will definitely have to check out Hannah’s blog.
Sleeping with children is interesting. My niece would beg to sleep with me when she was little. I swear that kid kept at least her toe (but usually her whole foot) on me the whole night. I guess she just wanted to know I was there.
Waking up to sharp edges, though, I’d rather have a foot! 🙂
You just can’t beat 99 cent cheese! That’s pretty awesome! We’d be stocked up too…and probably backed up. haha!

@Mrs. Ski, It isn’t Hannah’s blog, but it is a good one.
Yeah, I was going to say that we have cheese up the ass, but then, you know.

Lots of good thoughts there. Mostly I can relate on the Google Reader situation and I swear, I am addicted to reading blogs and I need to get over it because I do have a life.

I have to categorize everything in my reader… “Friends” is where I keep blogs of people I actually care about and comment on, and I save that category for when I have actual time… like now 🙂
If I lived out there, I’d totally be getting in on some cheese action. @Matt, who has time for skepticism when there’s 0.99 cheese to be had?!?

@Cat, The first night we got some, the shelves were packed. The next night (ok, we had to go back for more cheese, all right?) they were almost empty; no skeptics here!
I didn’t know you could categorize the reader! I will totally be looking at that over the weekend!

@kori, When you’re in the feed, go to the top and go to “feed settings,” then New Folder.

I like any post that uses the word “asshat” and ending with “begone” is just a stroke of brilliance in my opinion.

I have Google Reader sharing issues also. I’m trying to cut back, but I keep getting sucked in. I did cut back the number of feeds I follow but it is still addictive!

I’m definitely going to check out that post – and poor Hannah having to deal with that! I dread when Princess Nagger gets to that age and deals with boys like that – whether or not ‘boys will be boys’.
Ah, yes, the midnight visits from little munchkins and their ‘important’ stuff…like books…or dinosaurs. Waking up to sharp edges is not fun. That, or being kicked in the face from a restless little one. 😉
My Google Reader has overwhelmed me so much I’ve been avoiding it and just doing haphazard visits…I’m going to spend some time with Cat’s suggestion of organized folders – that might do the trick! 🙂
99-cent cheese (and plums) would be hard to resist! 🙂
Happy FF a day late! 🙂

Whenever you feel overwhelmed by your reader just think about me – at present time I have 261 unreads in my subscriptions. It is totally out of control. I love, love, love shared items though. Always lots of goodness in there.

I’m still chuckling over “so begone” LOL That’s a good way to end a fragmented post like this 🙂
I don’t have kids, nor do I sleep with books, so the only sharp things in my bed are my kitty’s claws. Although they rarely attack at night 🙂
I’d be freezing cheese if we had a 99¢ sale. Yum!

Oh and I’d never used the shared items in my google reader. You’ve got me curious now. I went away last week and have over a thousand unread blog posts. I’ve used the “delete all unread” a few times and I can feel the pain – I can.

Oh the good ol’ boys will be boys excuse. Totally unacceptable. Leading boys to believe that being perverted is okay is what leads to boys ‘accidentally’ going too far one day. I hope the perv that is bugging your daughter is taught a lesson sooner rather than later.
Google reader hasn’t given me any problems yet, but I don’t do anything fancy with it. I just open it and scroll through blogs. I don’t mess with settings or marking things read/unread.
Happy late FF!

I’m writing a post right now that includes a great idea from someone about sorting your blogs I(in Google Reader) into great folders. One is called Timeout-You put them there when you are afraid to let them go. 🙂
